"Highly Attentive... you found what we were searching for."
Ken Smith: Eduright Software
It’s that time of year again when folks begin to take their eye off the ball and thoughts of the Holidays, vacations, etc. begin to overshadow work objectives. We see it happen every year with both clients and candidates alike. The closer we get to Christmas, the more things begin to unravel. People begin to reschedule appoints for “after the holidays” or find reasons not to connect at all. And of course once Christmas and New Years have passed, they have to play catch up and address all those issues they let slide in the preceding weeks. And then there is the whole “end of year” roll up and National Sales meetings, etc. to contend with. Consequently, deals that are not closed or aggressively pursued during December either fall apart or are put on hold until the latter half of Q1.
This year is no different than others except the consequences for slacking off will be more severe. Companies have cut so much that they can’t afford to carry vacancies another six to eight weeks. Candidates who are looking for new opportunities can’t afford to sit tight either.
If you are in the process of filling a vacancy or looking for a new role, it’s in your best interest to remain focused and keep moving forward. You may be tempted to procrastinate until after the Holidays, but don’t give in to the temptation. The few hours you save now will cost you weeks or months in the long run. Good jobs and good candidates are at a premium right now. Let your competition be the ones to slack off. You’ll meet your objectives and enjoy the Holidays even more without unfinished business looming over your head.
